Alison Cady
Funeral Mass of the Resurrection for Alison Teri Cady, 16, was held Monday morning at Holy Family Parish, St. John Nepomucene Church, Pilsen.
Father Nick Voelker was the celebrant. Burial was in the Pilsen church cemetery
She died as the result of a tragic automobile accident July 24, 2003, at the U.S.-50/77 intersection near Florence. The accident also claimed the life of her best friend, Lyndsay Sherbert.
Born March 6, 1987, at Beloit, she was daughter of Jeff and Theresa Cady of Marion.
"Ali," as she was affectionately known by friends and family, was a student at Marion High School and would have been a member of the junior class this fall.
She enjoyed volleyball and softball, browsing the Internet, baby-sitting, Girl Scouts, and going to the lake. Ali loved spending time with younger kids and her friends. She also was a member of Holy Family Parish CYO.
Survivors include her parents, Jeff and Theresa Cady, sisters, Morgan and Donna, and brother, Mitchell, all of Marion; grandparents Jerry and Enid Cady of Marion, Martinus and Martha Kohler of Beloit, and Tom Rider of Pensacola, Fla.; great-grandmother, Joan Willett of Beloit; and a multitude of friends of all ages.
She was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Jo Rider and Donna Cady; and a great-grandfather, Ed Willett.
The Rosary was recited Sunday evening at the church and Mass was celebrated Monday morning at the church.
Rose Davidson was lector.
Eucharistic minister was Sharon Stuart. Gift bearers were Erikka Secrest, Ashley Secrest, and Lindsey Gengler.
Vocalists were Steve and Jay Smith. Anita Brookens was organist.
Mass servers were Jake and Josh Smith and Brian Bina.
Casket bearers were Adam Stuart, Ian Stuart, Tyler Miesse, Jerry Secrest, Trevor Smith, and Chris Freeby.
A memorial fund has been established with the Girl Scouts.
