Allen Funk
Allen J. Funk, 82, retired Hillsboro farmer and appliance dealer, died July 8, 2003, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Born Oct. 1, 1920, at Hillsboro, he was the son of Sam and Esther (Janzen) Funk.
On March 9, 1943, he married Leona Wiens at Hillsboro. She survives of the home.
He established Allen Funk Refrigeration in Hillsboro and operated it for many years until his sons took over the business. He was a member of First Mennonite Church in Hillsboro.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Lester Funk of rural Marion and Larry Funk, Delbert Funk, and Ronald Funk, all of Hillsboro; daughters, Joyce Ediger of Moundridge and Jeanette Schaefer of Hillsboro; sisters, Rosella Voth of Hesston and Elsie Coe Phillips of Hillsboro; 21 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive guests from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Hillsboro Memorial Chapel.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Mennonite Church with Pastor Ken Peterson officiating. Burial will be at Haven of Rest Cemetery in rural Hillsboro.
