ALVA tour held at Novak home

The Fourth District ALVA tour was held Sept. 30 at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Bob Novak. Kay Busby, district president, and Colleen Budenbender, district vice president, representing the American Legion Auxiliary and two representatives of the American Legion met with Wesley Fenske, a member of the Lincolnville American Legion, Bob Novak, member of Tampa American Legion, Betty Beneke, Pauline Fenske, and Toby Loveless, members of the American Legion Auxiliary of Lincolnville, Dollye Novak, Hallie Novak, and Evelyn Strecker, members of the Lost Springs American Legion Auxiliary.

Lincolnville and Lost Springs American Legion Auxiliary each received a certificate for 100 percent goal of membership.

After the ALVA tour meeting, the members of the American Legion Auxiliary of Lost Springs held a meeting. Correspondence was discussed, treasurer's report given, and poppies ordered. The next meeting will be in November to take Christmas gifts for the veterans and families.

Junior and Jeanette Hanschu, Jayson and Jan Hanschu, Jakob and Jorge, Hillsboro; Jennifer Braden and Joshua, Windom; and Jolene and Kallie Albrecht of Salina attended on Saturday the William Utech family reunion at the homestead west of Ramona. A covered dish dinner was served, pictures were taken, and the children explored the farm.

Bob and Irma Reznicek went to the Marion County Holy Family parish mission Sunday night at Holy Family Catholic Church. They took Carol Makovec with them.

Douglas Strecker of Hesston was my guest Saturday. He disked some ground and tested the vehicles and tractors for antifreeze.

Junior and Jeanette Hanschu attended the reception and potluck dinner Sunday in honor of Bart and Ann Eskeldson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Eskeldson at the Trinity Lutheran parish hall.

Mrs. Sylvin Holub of Manhattan and Mrs. Ralph Stroda of Herington were Monday dinner guests of Bob and Irma Reznicek.

Frances Stuchlik accompanied Stanley and Ruby Sharping Saturday to Berryville to visit Tom and Carol Stuchlik. They spent the night with the Stuchliks and returned home Sunday.
