Amelia Park Bridge on register of historic places

Marion County Commission has received official notice that Amelia Park Bridge in Marion County has been entered onto the National Register of Historic Places.

The bridge is located one-half mile west of U.S.-77 on 260th St., approximately one mile northeast of the unincorporated town of Antelope. It was built in 1914.

The listing automatically places the bridge on the Kansas Register of Historic Places.

The listing provides recognition of the Antelope community's historic importance and protects the property against federal and state projects that could endanger it. Any changes would have to be approved by the historical society.

A full story about the bridge was published in the April 9, 2003, issue of the Marion County Record.
