Are you a pet lover?

I have never been a dog or cat lover although we had quite a few when the children were young. Right now I have a perfect pet, a fish. It doesn't bark or meow or leave any messes around the house. Of course I can't cuddle with it.

Now, take puppies — they are so cute and some people go gaga over them. Recently the news reported that a biology teacher was going to feed some unwanted puppies to the class boa constrictor. Well you can imagine the shock, tears, and moans that arose in the classroom. So the teacher held back the operation. He also has an animal clinic so he took the puppies there to be offered for adoption.

A Sunday or so ago one of my great-granddaughters and her girl friend were riding in the country and discovered three puppies tied with ropes lying in a ditch. Do you think they rode right on by? No sirree! They gathered them up, took them home, bathed them, fed them, and fixed a warm bed. They hope to find happy homes for them. I'm sure her mother wasn't too happy over the situation, but she would do the same thing.

There is a lot of money spent on pets now days. Huge medical bills, and dental bills and trims and shampoos. So if you want a pet, figure all that in. It's not right to have one and not take care of it. I don't know whether pets were supposed to be treated like people or not or whether there is a pet heaven. What do you think?
