Arnhold competes at nationals

Chelsea Arnhold, daughter of Ken and Teri Arnhold of Marion, competed this past week at a national girls' wrestling tournament at Lake Orion, Mich.

Arnhold received a bye in her first match, lost her second, 0-4, won the third on a forfeit, and lost the final match 5-6.

She faced wrestlers from California and Hawaii in the 32-person, 100-pound bracket.

Ken Arnhold reported there were three other girls from Kansas participating, as well as a community college women's team.

An unusual aspect caught the Arnholds unprepared. After each match, the competitors exchanged gifts with a home-state touch.

"We were searching our van for anything remotely connected to Kansas," Arnhold said. They found some University of Kansas visors which proved more than adequate.
