Auction nets $3,000 for playground fund years ago
An auction fund-raiser Saturday at Marion City Auditorium gave another boost to the Central Park playground equipment fund.
More than $3,000 was raised from the event, even though attendance was less than anticipated. A variety of items were sold by volunteer auctioneer Sam Griffin with 45 bidders.
The highlight of the auction was the auctioning of concert tickets for Reba McIntire and Kelly Clarkson. Jessica Lauren was the lucky bidder, giving $685 for the pair of tickets and special passes.
