Auditions set for annual Lip Sync contest
Children, teens, adults invited to participate
If you envision yourself on "Star Search" someday you'll want to participate in the annual Ousta Fest or Lip Sync contest, sponsored by the Marion High School Forensics Team.
Auditions begin Tuesday night for elementary school age students (K-6). Auditions will be held Thursday for junior high and high school students (grades 7-12). Adults can audition Friday night.
Audition time for all is 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Marion Municipal Auditorium. The six top winners in each category will go on to participate in the finals, according to coordinator Janet Killough.
There is a cost to audition. Participants will be charged $1 per person per audition.
"In other words, if there's five in your group, it'll cost five dollars for each person," Killough said.
Those auditioning are asked to bring a CD or tape. Participants may use props and/or costumes.
All lyrics must be appropriate. In other words, lyrics cannot include references to drugs, alcohol, or contain profanity. Individuals with questions or seeking more information are asked to contact Killough at Marion High School, 382-2168.
Finals, which are open to the public, will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 5 in the Marion Municipal Auditorium. There will be a $1.50 admission charge.
"It's an absolutely hilarious time," Killough said. "It will have you rolling in your seats."
