Audrey McBride

Audrey Orlena (Stimson) McBride, 100, born April 19, 1903, at Topeka, died May 22, 2003, at Dallas, Texas.

Her husband, Howard, died in 1971. Survivors include three children, nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Private Christian Science services were held in Dallas.

She grew up in Marion and taught school. She was married to Howard McBride on Christmas Day, 1923. He was in Marion with his father, Albert, paving city streets. Howard later became chairman of the board of Stimson Contraction Co.

She and Norma Hannaford of Marion "kept in touch" for more than 80 years. Norma's sister, Margie McCullough, was a flower girl at Audry and Howard's wedding. Norma also recalls, "Audrey is the one who taught me how to play bridge."
