Bill and Nancy Lawson of Augusta have spent the past three years remodeling a house they purchased at 132 Washington St. in Marion.

In addition to a complete renovation of the house, they have added a separate double garage and an all-season front porch.

Bill recently retired from Boeing and is devoting his time to putting finishing touches on the house.

Nancy is assisting him and has been busy establishing flower plantings around the house and in the yard.

The attractive, two-story wood-frame house is shaded by tall, deciduous trees and has an enclosed back patio.

The Lawsons chose Marion as their home for two reasons: Bill wanted to live in the country, and Nancy wanted to live near her sister, who lives in Hillsboro.

"I didn't want to live in the same town, but I wanted to be close," she said. "Besides, I like Marion better." They hope to be ready to move into their home in approximately one and one-half months. When the project is complete and the couple is settled in, Bill plans to pursue his favorite pastime — fishing.
