Bateman helps daughter celebrate birthday in Topeka

Jeannine Bateman spent the weekend in Topeka celebrating Kristine Bateman's birthday. They had fun at a rodeo.
Leon Hayen from Topeka visited Friday and Saturday with his mother and family. Virginia Downing, Marilyn Geis, John Hayen, and Max and Donna Hayen called on Dorothy at St. Luke Living Center during the week.
Shirley Bowers attended Athena Study Club Tuesday afternoon. Janelle Paden, David and Shirley Bowers, and Howard and Beth Collett drove Saturday to Topeka to the home of Roma and Bill Schaggs to attend a birthday party for Howard Collett. Shirley and David ate dinner Sunday at Eastmoor United Methodist Church sponsored by the Eastmoor youth.
Charles Kjellin was moved Thursday to St. Luke Hospital. Mary Beth Bowers is busy visiting him at the hospital.
Richard and Patty McLinden, Roseva McLinden, and Lauren and Jarret McLinden went to Olathe Saturday to help Jordan Morton celebrate his seventh birthday at the home of his parents, Susie and Craig Morton and Regan. Chuck McLinden, Lori, Lauren, and Jarret attended the ranch rodeo Saturday evening in Wichita. Chuck McLinden participated in the rodeo.
Sarah and Rachel Davidson took third place Saturday at the state debate tournament. Rose Davidson is busy directing, and has a small part, in the adult theater production scheduled for Feb. 7 and 8 at the city building. They are doing the "Last Gladiator."
Youngtown and former Youngtown people who attended the funeral services Saturday for Alvina Hoffman were Dorothy Hayen, John Hayen, Virginia Downing, Leonard and Rosalie Klassen, Shirley and David Bowers, Greg Bowers, Cy and L.Dena Goertz, Eileen Sieger, Harold and Virginia Bowers, Vernon Bowers, Ray and Eleanor Davidson, Anita and Ken Sly, and Margaret Ireland. Marilyn Cox officiated, Shirley Bowers played piano, and Greg Bowers sang for the services. Laverne and Sheila Hoffman from Ventura, Calif., and his family, Jerry and Dana Hoffman and Jeremy, Nick Hoffman, Heike Reagen Hoffman, and four of Alvina's cousins from South Dakota were here for the services.
Eileen Sieger attended the "Healthy Fit" meeting Monday night at the city building. The lesson was on cholesterol. Eileen accompanied Lynn Smith Tuesday to the Marion County United Way luncheon at the Scout House in Hillsboro.
Leonard and Rosalie Klassen attended the funeral services Friday afternoon for Annabelle Gaffney at the Florence funeral home.
