Be a leader, not a follower
Those of us tempted to join Timothy Titus are reminded that his action, or lack of action, is the stuff ghost towns are born of.
Don't emulate Tim. You'll have an opportunity this weekend to participate in the annual Chingawassa Days festival. Instead of staying at home, like Tim, and complaining about what "they" do or didn't do, participate in the fun. Marion is envied by other communities across Kansas because of Chingawassa Days, Art in the Park, and Old Settlers' Day. Those are first class, high quality, endeavors. They attract thousands of folks; many coming from a distance. That's in contrast to the local "old grouches" who stay at home. They aren't interested in the program in the park and say they can hear the music from their front porch. "So, why should I buy a button?"
To fully appreciate the fun it's best to be involved. See you in the park.
