Belton attends Washington, D.C. leadership conference
Gloria Belton, a junior at Centre High School, attended the June 14-19 summer leadership conference in Washington, D.C. It was sponsored by the National FFA and U.S. Department of Education.
Belton attended workshop sessions on persuasive communication, character leadership, and building relationships. She also participated in discussions on citizenship and service events.
She visited Arlington National Cemetery, the Jefferson, Lincoln, and Roosevelt memorials and other historic sights. A highlight of the week was a meeting with Congressman Jerry Moran.
Belton, who is vice president of the Centre FFA chapter, said she stayed in a hotel with 130 others attending the conference. She said it was personally rewarding to get to meet so many people from different parts of the country and learn about their FFA chapters.
Belton is the daughter of Ed and Gwenn Belton of rural Tampa.
