Belton, Mueller named scholar athletes at Centre
Seniors Derek Belton and Kristin Mueller received scholar athlete awards Thursday during the annual athletic banquet at Centre High School.
Belton and Ashlee Bowman received the Wendy Heisman award. Belton also received the Purple Heart award.
MVPs (most valuable players) included Laura Klenda, volleyball; Curtis Gutsch, football offense; and Travis Burns, football defense.
In girls' basketball, Jill Fenske was assist leader, Ashlee Bowman, steals leader, and Laura Klenda, rebound leader.
In boys' basketball, Curtis Gutsch was assist, steals, and rebound leader.
Track and golf awards were not presented because the season is unfinished.
Guest speaker was Karl Kassleman, assistant weight coach at Kansas State University.
