Belva Duncan

Belva B. Duncan, 92, former resident of Herington, died July 22, 2002, at the Skyline Retirement Center, Omaha, Neb.

She was born July 9, 1910, at Morrill, the daughter of Walter L. and Bertha A. (Bordner) Zavitz.

Funeral services were Thursday at the Donahue Funeral Home Chapel, Herington, with the Rev. Edward J. Thompson officiating. Burial was in the Lost Springs Cemetery.

Eastern Star service was conducted by Esther chapter #96, Order of the Eastern Star, Herington.

Mrs. Duncan was a nurses aide who worked at a doctor's office in Herington and at Irwin Army Hospital at Fort Riley.

She was a 50-year member of OES, and a past member of Rebekahs and the Royal Order of the Beauceant.

She married Pleasant E. Teel Sept. 2, 1928. He died Jan. 17, 1960. She married Frederick H. Wood July 9, 1960. He died Jan. 9, 1975. She also was preceded in death by her last husband John H. "Jack" Duncan on Dec. 12, 1986; son Robert W. Teel; and three brothers Alfred Zavitz, Norman Zavitz, and Russell Zavitz.

She is survived by a daughter-in-law Ruth Zimmerman of Omaha, Neb., a sister Katherine Dawson of Houston, Texas, four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

The family requests memorials to the American Cancer Society.
