Bertha Schneider
Bertha M. (Bert) Schneider, 94, of Ramona, died July 3, 2004, at Lutheran Care Home, Herington.
Born May 17, 1910, at Hillsboro, she was the daughter of Alexander and Margaret (Niederhaus) Lais.
She graduated from Lincolnville High School in 1928, and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Ramona.
On Aug. 12, 1928, she married Jacob (Jake) Schneider at Hutchinson. He died in 1971.
She and her husband owned and operated the Ramona Grocery Store until his death in 1971, then she worked as the postal clerk at Ramona Post Office until her retirement in 1988.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; only son, Donald Schneider in 1999; a sister, Mollie; five brothers, Robert, Edward, Theodore, Victor, and Henry; four half-sisters, Wilhelmina, Amelia, Theresa, and Emma; and four half-brothers, Daniel Alexander, John, and William.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Mary Schneider of Olathe; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Clark Davis officiating.
Burial will be in Lewis Cemetery, Ramona.
A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel.
A memorial fund has been established with the church.
