Betty June Sampson

Betty June Sampson, 84, died Oct. 13, 2003, at Chase County Health and Rehabilitation Center (Beverly Nursing Home) in Cottonwood Falls.

The daughter of Earl and Edith Sampson, she was born June 26, 1919, in Clayton, N.M. She lived most of her life in Chase County where she attended school.

Betty June joined the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Emporia and was baptized there. In later years she attended church services at the nursing home where she especially enjoyed hymn singing.

She was accomplished at knitting and other hobbies included doll collecting and raising dogs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Wesley (Jack), four sisters, Helen Crisp, Edith (Peggy) Moore, and twins Roberta and Rowce.

Survivors include two sisters, L.Dena Goertz of Marion and Patricia Davis of Bunker Hill, Ind., nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Cottonwood Falls funeral home. Burial will be at 11 a.m. at Marion Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be David Goertz, Michael Davis, John Robert Summerville, and John Summervill.

Becky Summerville will be the soloist.
