Beyond the Arc: Kansas City fans get royal treatment
Have my eyes deceived me? Is it really true? Could the Royals actually make a run at the pennant? Maybe even win the World Series?
Well, let's not get carried away. While the Kansas City Royals have had their high-points this season, it's important to note that they have also had their low points as well.
My wife and I have been talking about driving up to a KC game since before the season began. The problem is, that every time we have an opportunity to get away, the Royals are on some kind of losing streak that has every KC fan recalling the days of the losing Royals.
We still plan on heading up and catching a game before the summer is over, but it's unfortunate that we couldn't have gone up this past weekend for the inter-league match-up vs. the Cardinals, because the battle of I-70 is usually pretty fierce, even when the Royals weren't any good.
Whether the Royals lose the remainder of their games this season, they have shown signs of life. These days, it's even good to hear about them in the news. Heck, I even look for highlights now on ESPN. They seem to be doing something right, maybe not consistently, but certainly encouraging.
I still think KC has a fighting chance to make it into the playoffs. While they're not consistent, it seems they find ways to win. We can only hope the players become more confident than their fans when it come to their chances of winning.
