Big Brothers/Big Sisters earn $16,000 from pledges, donations years ago

Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Marion County earned $16,616 Sunday during Bowl for Kids' Sake.

Sherry Soyez, director, said the project is the main fund-raiser for the program.

All alleys were busy, with pizza provided to volunteers. Many people came just to watch and visit.

The top team raising pledges was Marion County Peace Officers Association. The team of Dean Keyes, Michel Soyez, Jeff Soyez, Jessey Hiebert, and Jerry Schmidt raised about $800.

Thad Nichols of Marion raised the most money, $414.Others with top pledges were Jerry Schmidt, $326, Jessey Hiebert, $260, and Susan Schultz, $204. All are of Hillsboro.

High scorers in Marion were Greg Wyatt and Gary Hett; in Hillsboro, Karen Benda and Brad Radar; and in Peabody, Kenny Mayfield and Brian Swenson.
