Birthday brings shower of books

There was a great shower of books on me for my birthday. I'll just name them and hope I don't leave any out.

"In the Presence of My Enemies," by Gracia Burnham. It is the true story of the Wichita woman who was held prisoner by Philippine rebels.

"Shifting Sands," about life in Arabia with a Saudi princess.

"If I Live To Be 100," by Neenah Ellis. I've already read this as I wanted to know how it is.

"Good Poems," a collection by Garrison Keillor. It is like eating popcorn. You read one and can't resist on going to the next one.

"Vermeer," by Anthony Bailey. It is about the Dutch painter and life in Holland in the 1600s.

"Wonders of the World," includes 100 great manmade treasures of civilization. So interesting.

"The Twelve Teas of Celebration," by Millie Barnes is full of great ideas for parties and recipes.

"Norma," by Norma Zimmer. My sister, Betty, thought the title apropos.

Isn't that a variety?

Oh yes, another book, "Grandma, Tell Me Your Memories." It is blank! I think I'm supposed to write my own book.

I think I'll be pretty busy for quite a while.

I visited the grocery store and they had watermelon. I couldn't resist. So red, so crisp and juicy. I jumped right on it as soon as I reached home. Yummy! I had to practice spitting seeds in the sink!
