Birthdays plentiful at senior center

By JANET BRYANT

There has been a sugar high week at the senior center, with birthdays nearly every day. Those bringing treats have been Jane Makovec, Lois Johnson, Mary Mae Hett, and Doris Bowyer. There also was a little party to celebrate the birthday of Noreen Weems. She was surprised to come in Thursday for a party for her Saturday birthday. Lanell Hett baked a red velvet cake for the occasion.

Autumn Hanson brought four Marion Manor residents to eat on Senior Center Day. Residents were Melvin Slater, Neal Elwell, Linel Frick, and Marie Kusnefsky. The program that day featured Camille Christensen singing two songs and Kristen Geis, who performed a dance routine. Mary Beth Bowers came to accompany Camille on her guitar. Camille's mom Michon, sisters Whitney and Tiffany, and grandmother Marge Christensen were part of the audience. Kristen's grandmother Marilyn Geis is president of Marion Senior Center.

Plan ahead for the red, white, and blue sing-along on July 3. The center will be closed July Fourth.

Our senior moments have been full of birthday candy bars this week!
