Blondine Schlichting

Blondine L. Schlichting, 86, died Oct. 23, 2003, at Newton Medical Center, Newton.

Born Oct. 2, 1917, near Hillsboro, she was the daughter of Peter and Katherine (Penner) Loewen.

She was a homemaker and member of Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church.

On June 8, 1943, she married Raymond C. Schlichting of rural Hillsboro.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Weldo Loewen and Hubert Loewen; and a daughter, Loretta Janzen.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Annette and Dr. Paul Block of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and Deborah and Steve Toews of Hesston; two sisters, Hulda Kroeker of California and Elfrieda Reimer of Shafter, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Burial was Tuesday morning at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church Cemetery.

Funeral services followed at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church with Pastor Dave Plett officiating.

A memorial fund has been established with Tabor College.
