Boys take first, girls second in Hesston basketball league
Marion High School boys' and girls' varsity teams fared well in the Hesston Basketball League this summer.
After competing through regular season play, the boys' team qualified for the B-tournament, and the girls competed in their post-season tournament as well.
On Thursday the girls fought hard, but fell to Berean Academy by three points, to claim second-place in the league.
The boys' team Friday was led by sophomore Calvin Jeffrey who poured in 19 points en route to a 20-point victory against Moundridge.
The victory gave them first-place in the B-tournament. These same players will take the court this winter for the MHS Warrior basketball team.
