Boys win 3-on-3 basketball tournament
Calvin Jeffrey of Marion, Brian Palermo of Chase County, and Gavin Serene of Hillsboro took first place Feb. 21 in a 3-on-3 basketball tournament at Chase County.
The boys met three years ago when they were part of the CVL All Stars baseball team that went to the state tournament.
The boys continued their friendship and in 2002 and 2003 were members of the CVL All Star baseball team, as well as teammates on the Western Associates baseball team.
Jeffrey, Palermo, and Serene, last year known as "The Better Team," participated in the 3-on-3 basketball tournament in March 2003 and won first place. This year, known as "Still the Better Team," they had a repeat performance at Chase County and brought home another first place finish in the tournament.
