Break-in occurs at Marion post office

A break-in at the United States Post Office at Marion was reported Friday to Marion Police Department.

According to postmaster Greg Topham, the break-in occurred through the back door sometime between 5 p.m. Thursday and 7 a.m. Friday.

Topham said several items, mostly parcels were torn open. He has contacted the customers involved.

Marion Police Department is investigating the crime in conjunction with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.

The inspection service is offering a $500 reward for anyone submitting information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible.

Anyone with information involving the case, or who may have seen any suspicious activity in or around the post office during that time is asked to contact the police department or the postal inspection service at 316-946-4695.

Chamber to meet

at noon Friday

Marion Chamber of Commerce monthly luncheon will be held at noon Friday at Stone City Café.

The program includes information from Marion County Planning and Zoning director David Brazil.
