Brian Pagenkopf

Brian Christopher Pagenkopf, 26, Lincolnville, died Thursday due to a tragic automobile accident near Lincolnville.

The son of Mark and Kaye (Sondergard) Pagenkopf, he was born Sept. 12, 1976, at Marion.

He was baptized Oct. 2, 1976, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Lincolnville, and was confirmed May 5, 1991, at the church.

He was a lifetime resident of the community and member of St. John's church. He attended Centre schools, graduating from Centre High School in the class of 1995. He then attended Hutchinson Community College two years. He was a machine operator for Ditch Diggers, Inc.

Brian enjoyed outdoor activities, especially hunting. During high school years he played football for the Cougars and received all-state honors and played in the Kansas 8-man all-star game.

Survivors include his father, Mark Pagenkopf and his wife Marsha of Lost Springs; his mother, Kaye Risser and her husband Earl of Hope; three brothers, Brad and Mark II, both of Lost Springs, and Kelly Wonser of Marion; two sisters, Mary Evans of Herington and Holly Hemmer of Marion; grandparents, Lloyd and Beth Pagenkopf of Lincolnville and Al and Darlene Sondergard of Ramona; aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and many friends.

Funeral services were held Monday morning at the church with the Rev. Alan Stahlecker officiating.

Music was by Donna Beneke, vocalist and Ruth Poppe organist.

Casket bearers were Charlie Holub, Gene Chizek, Shane Svitak, Jody Cole, Jay Fenske, and Greg Holub. Honorary bearers were Aaron Abeldt, Marvin Peterson, and Galen Peterson.

Burial was in Lincolnville Cemetery.

Memorials have been established at the church and with Kansas Department of Parks and Wildlife Trust.
