The ice storm and resulting power outage lasted just more than a week in this area. I lost power at 7:10 a.m. Dec. 11 and it was restored around 1 p.m. Dec. 17. Because I am on oxygen, my son picked me up Tuesday evening and I spent the week with the Perry Gutsch family at Herington. Many in the area were able to stay in their homes with the help of generators.
Gary and Marilyn Hageberg went to Manhattan Dec. 15 to attend the graduation of Steven Hageberg from Manhattan Vo-Tech with a degree in electrical power and distribution. Others attending were Mike and Denice Hageberg and Trevor, Amanda, Abby, and Joseph Fischer, Dianne Dalton of Hillsboro, Dean DeSpain and friend Ann of Lewisberg, and great-grandmother Connie of Kansas city.
Darlene Gutsch celebrated her 74th birthday Dec. 16 at the home of Perry and Amy Gutsch and family at Herington with birthday cake and ice cream.
Ruth Riggin, who had heat and a generator during the ice storm had the following guests, Neva Peterson, Earl and Lois Peterson, and Jim and Marilyn Peterson.
Keep Rolland Peterson in your thoughts and prayers as he is in a Wichita hospital as a result of a fall late this past week.
