The Burdick United Methodist Church hosted a wiener roast and hayrack ride the evening of Oct. 22. Forty-five to 50 attended. Wieners and marshmallows were roasted over a bonfire at the back of the church. Guests enjoyed hot dogs and all the trimmings, s'mores, soft drinks, coffee, and hot cider in the fellowship hall and outside around the bonfire. Two hayracks were loaded with brave persons clad in heavy coats, hoods, scarves, and gloves for a chilly ride around the Burdick countryside.
Corlberg-Smith Post 147, American Legion and Auxiliary, will be serving pancakes from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 4 and Nov. 11 at the Burdick Legion Hall.
Saturday evening visitors of Mary Deane Peters were Burdette and Maureen Peterson, Rigo and Mario Salazar of Wichita, Eric Peterson of Emporia, Scott Peterson of El Dorado, and Selena Seifert of Lost Springs.
Logan Dunkin of Rose Hill spent Tuesday with Evelyn Forsberg. Dean Forsberg joined them for dinner and Ethan Forsberg was an evening guest.
Charles and Arlene Carlson attended a party for the first birthday of their great-grandchild, Leah Rose Brunner, Sunday afternoon at the home of Kent and Jean Brunner, Lost Springs. Others attending were Leah's parents Nolan and Melissa Brunner, John and Rose Stimac and Joe, Kenny and Alice Peterson, Sarah Stimac of Herington, Jerry Fenske of Manhattan, Jill Brunner and Tucker of Lost Springs, Mike and Linda Carlson of Burdick, Lauren and Orvell Brunner, Tracy and Yvonne Brunner and Tanner of Ramona, Veronica Warzon of Louisburg, Pat and JoEllen Esteason of Montana, John and Amy Hanley of Salina, Gabe and Emily Schlickau, Cat Brunner, and Jake Jenkins of Wichita.
Savannah Forsberg and Glen Carlson were Wednesday afternoon visitors of Evelyn Forsberg.
Hebron Lutheran WELCA met Oct. 18 at the church with 10 members present. Carol Riffel was lesson leader and Lois Peterson was the hostess. Others attending were Alona Hedstrom, Hallie Novak, Gloria Martin, Dollye Novak, Lorraine Gerry, Nancy Hanson, and Jewel Swinney.
Dean Forsberg was a Thursday visitor of Evelyn Forsberg.
There will be another scarecrow contest at Burdick with proceeds going to the Burdick Bunch Relay for Life. The 12 entries are pictured on a voting flyer. Votes are $1 each. Voting boxes are at the Burdick United Methodist Church, Hebron Lutheran Church, Burdick post office, and Burdick Meat Market.
Josie Peterson of Lincolnville spent Sunday with Mary Deane Peterson. They called on Burdette and Maureen Peterson and their houseguests, the Salazars.
Harry Schump of Herington and Evelyn Forsberg attended the chicken noodle supper Saturday evening at the St. Rose Catholic Church in Council Grove. Afterward, they visited Mike and Jane Rickenbrode and Morgan.
Kirsten Johnson was guest of honor Saturday evening at a party celebrating her 16th birthday at the home of Pam Ackley. Others present were David and Connie Johnson and Kodey, Kenneth Roberts, Council Grove; Wayne and Nancy Hanson and Allen, Lorraine Cowell, Wakefield; and Josh Weir, Manhattan.
Mary Dean Peterson and Josie Peterson visited Sunday evening with Naomi Nelson and Tom Nelson.
Harry Schump was a Sunday afternoon visitor of Evelyn Forsberg.
Burdick UMW met Wednesday afternoon in the church's fellowship hall with eight members present. The lesson, "Creating a Child's Tower of Peace," was given by Karen Carlson. Devotions were by Nancy Riggin. The report of a successful of the turkey supper was given. Conference and district meeting reports were given by Ruth Ann and Susan Carlson. Refreshments were served by Nancy Riggin. The next meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 15.
Forrest and Marie Anderson were guests of Gary and Karen Korte at Emporia Oct. 8-9. Other guests were the Korte children, Ian of Emporia, Erin of Manhattan, and Erik of Columbia, Mo.

Fay and Beverly Schroer, Kearney, Neb., were houseguests of Earl and Lois Peterson Oct. 7-8. The Petersons and Ruth Riggin accompanied the Schroers to Wichita on Sunday to attend the 60th wedding anniversary celebration of Ernest and Arlene Schroer.
Marcus and Sabrina Dunkin and Logan of Rose Hill hosted lunch Monday at Bridgette's in Woodbine for Harry Schump, of Herington, Dean and Nanette Forsberg, Evelyn Forsberg and Nancy Hickman.
Greg and Theresa Miller, Cole and J.J. of Colorado Springs, Colo., were houseguests Oct. 7-9 of Phil and Jamie Peterson and Chris.
Charles and Arlene Carlson accompanied Carol Miller of Delavan and Maxine Lapham and Dovie Rule of Herington to a meeting of the White City Chapter #421 OES Monday evening. Members of the former Esther Chapter #96 also were in attendance. There was a Halloween party with some members in costume. Refreshments were served.
There was a large crowd, including Charles Gutsch, who attended the Hebron Lutheran fried chicken supper Wednesday evening. Pastor Rick Branson of Marion visited with Charles and Darlene Gutsch Wednesday evening.
Harry Schump of Herington and Dean Forsberg visited Evelyn Forsberg Wednesday afternoon.
Phil and Jami Peterson and Chris entertained guests Saturday evening with a supper. Guests were Greg and Theresa Miller, Cole and J.J., Fay and Beverly Schroer of Kearny, Mike Peterson and Kasey of Lyndon, Matt and Jamey Dalke, Reagen and Tyler of Hillsboro, Jim and Marilyn Peterson, Earl and Lois Peterson, and Ruth Riggin.
Mary Dean Peterson went to El Dorado Tuesday to spend the evening with Scott Peterson. They ate supper, visited his high school, and attended the Council Grove-El Dorado football game. Several other family members also were there. Mary Deane returned home after the game.
The Basores had a larger than usual house full of guests this weekend. This was to celebrate Kate's seventh birthday. Guests were Grace and Taylor Peterson, Oak and Tia Jenkins, Taylo Turkley, Maddie Potocnik, and Dakota Spooner. An overnight slumber party was full of food, games, and crafts. The group attended Burdick United Methodist Church Sunday morning.

Mary Deane Peterson and Josie Peterson of Lincolnville went to Lindsborg Sunday afternoon to attend the first Bethany College all-choir and band alumni reunion concert at 3 p.m. in Presser Hall Auditorium. Bill Peterson of Herington sang in the choir.
Earl and Lois Peterson, Roger Peterson and Rolland Peterson attended the 10 a.m. service and dinner Sunday for the 130th anniversary of Marion Hill Church at Dwight.
