Burdick class of 1945 holds reunion years ago

The class of 1945 of the Diamond Valley High School met the evening of Sept. 29 at the Rockin' V Restaurant in Herington for dinner. Members present were Leota Huff, London, Ky.; Elinor Otte, Herington; Melvin Griepenstroh, Harlingen, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. Monte Carl, Wilsey; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Forsberg, Junction City; and Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Peterson, Burdick.

Burdick American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary will serve chili, sandwiches, and pie starting at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 19 at the Legion hall. Bingo and cards will start at 7 p.m. Door prizes also will be given.

Eldon and Isla Rose Nelson were Tuesday evening visitors of Charles and Arlene Carlson.

Wade Rickenbrode of Council Grove was a Friday overnight guest of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Forsberg.

Callers of Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Peterson during the past week were Harvey Hawkinson, Mr. and Mrs. Bret Beye, Cuyler and Chelsea of Herington, Gene and Phyllis Schroeppe of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Burton of Hope, Marvin Peterson of Lincolnville, Neal Whitaker of Marion, and Burdette and Maureen Peterson.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Carlson had coffee Friday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Peterson of Herington.

Earl and Evelyn Forsberg were Saturday evening guests of Earl and Ruth Schump at Herington.

Jack and Nancy Riggin were hosts to a party Sunday afternoon to celebrate Jack's 60th birthday. Those present were Bob Riggin of Detroit, Pat and C.J. Baker of Salina, Jake Tindle and Hannah of Hutchinson, Kent Miller and Coty, Betsy Biehler, Aaron and Ashlyn of Herington, Phil and Jan Smith of Lincolnville, Ruth Riggin, Neva Peterson, O.J. and Kelly Pearl of Manhattan, and the hosts Jack and Nancy Riggin.

Charles and Arlene Carlson were Sunday dinner guests of Kent and Jean Brunner. Other guests were Amy Brunner of Salina, Jill McGrath and Tucker of Manhattan, and Nolan Brunner.

Earl and Lois Peterson drove to Durango, Colo., Sept. 25 where they met Keith and Diane Miller the evening of Sept. 26 and rode the train to Silverton, Colo., and rode it back to Durango. On the 28th, they drove to Colorado Springs where they stayed overnight with Greg and Teresa Miller, Cole and Isaac. Earl and Lois drove home Sept. 30.

Conrad Steely of Sherman Oaks, Calif., spent from Wednesday until Monday with Goldie Steely.

Earl and Lois Peterson hosted a birthday dinner for Phil Peterson Sunday noon at the Rockin' V Restaurant. Those present were Phil and Jamie Peterson and Chris, Jim and Marilyn Peterson, Mike Peterson and Kasey of Lyndon, Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson, Burdette and Maureen Peterson, Roger Peterson, Rolland Peterson, and Oliver Peterson.

Visiting Goldie Steely during the past week were Mrs. Norman Engler and Nathaniel, Danielle Engler, Jennifer Kassebaum, Oliver Peterson, Jamie Peterson, Neva Peterson, George and Shirley Miller, Carol Lehmann, Allen and Marge Steely, Connie Johnson and Kirsten, Inez Schild, Gina Riggs and Morgan, Mrs. Phil Berndt, Chance and Tory, Leona Anderson, Pastor Marilyn Cox, and Peggy Kleiber and Nicholas.
