Burdick: Corlberg-Smith #147 hosts annual coffee tour years ago

Corlberg-Smith #147 Legion and Auxiliary hosted the annual coffee tour Saturday afternoon at Legion hall. Two representatives from the American Legion were there to inform members of legion and veterans activities and answered questions. One representative, Dorothy Galloway of Dwight represented the auxiliary with the same information. Attending Legionaires were Charles Gutsch, Rolland Peterson, Elmer Otte, Earl Peterson, Larry Hempleman, and Harold Hovander. Representing the auxiliary were Bonnie Sill of Herington, Rosemary Hempleman, and Darlene Gutsch. Refreshments were served after the meeting.
A senior citizens meeting will be held at noon Jan. 20 at Burdick Legion hall. A special program by Ann Sparke, Morris County Extension agent, will be presented. Further details will be published in the paper.
Logan Dunkin of Herington spent Tuesday and Wednesday with Evelyn Forsberg.
Savannah and Ethan Forsberg were Tuesday after-school guests of Evelyn Forsberg.
Mike Hageberg, Steven and Trevor hosted a surprise 40th birthday party Saturday evening for Denise at Burdick Legion hall. Thirty family and friends were present to help her celebrate the milestone. Assisting with the party were her mother, Diane and Steve Dalton of Hillsboro. Also attending was her father, Dean and Bev DeSpain of Lewisburg.
Marcus and Sabrina Dunkin and Logan of Herington and Dean and Nanette Forsberg, Savannah and Ethan were Wednesday supper guests of Evelyn Forsberg.
Bruce and Alona Hedstrom were Sunday evening supper guests of their daughter, Leslie and Corey Krehbiel, Drew, Riley, and Seth at Kingman. They attended the church Christmas program involving their grandchildren. The program was "Christmas Comes To Lone Star Gulch." Alona said it was inspirational and entertaining.
Charles and Darlene Gutsch attended an Eastern Star meeting Monday evening at the Masonic temple at Herington. A traveling gift exchange and Christmas party was held after the meeting.
Ruth Riggin attended a Sader family Christmas dinner Sunday at the Golden Age activity room. There were 36 present to enjoy the dinner. Ruth's daughter, Julie and all her family were present.
Mike and Jane Rickenbrode, Wade and Morgan of Council Grove were Friday evening supper guests of Evelyn Forsberg. Wade and Morgan were weekend guests of Evelyn. Ethan Forsberg was a Friday overnight guest.
Evelyn Forsberg and Wade and Morgan Rickenbrode went to church Sunday at Herington where Mike and Jane picked up the children. Harry Schump of Herington took Evelyn out for dinner.
Dr. Larry Peterson of Granby, Colo., has been a guest the past two or three weeks of Neva Peterson. He returned Sunday morning to Colorado. He will return to celebrate Christmas with Neva.
Janeen Hageberg of Emporia spent Saturday night and Sunday morning with Gary and Marilyn Hageberg.
Eleven people from Burdick UM Church participated in the Pilgrimage of Lights Sunday evening at Herington. Rolland Peterson of Hebron Lutheran Church also attended. Among those from our community attending were Wayne and Nancy Hanson, Earl and Lois Peterson, Neva Peterson, and Lorraine Gerry.

degree at WSU
Matthew Merle Ollek of El Dorado graduated summa cum laude from Wichita State University with a bachelor's degree in business administration.
He is the son of Allen and Donna Ollek of El Dorado and the grandson of Merle and Emma Douglas of Marion.
