Burdick: Departing exchange student honored

A farewell party was held Saturday at the home of Phil and Jamie Peterson and Chris in honor of Yavuz Akat, the exchange student from Turkey. Others attending were Jim and Marilyn Peterson, Harold and Joyce Roever, Earl and Lois Peterson, Roger Peterson, Rolland Peterson, Oliver Peterson, Danny Miller, Darren and Amy Makovec, Justin, Ryan, Dana, Shelby, and Ellie, Dusty Caldwell, Jordan Nowak, and Dave Remmer.

Afternoon callers on Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson May 25 were Joyce Steffe of Topeka, Dirl and Shirley of Piedmont, S.D., Linda Steffe of Alaska, and Harvey Hawkinson, Herington.

Kent and Jean Brunner and Jill McGrath had a cookout May 25 for the first birthday of Tucker McGrath. Guests were Lauren and Orville Brunner, Tracy and Yvonne Brunner of Ramona, Lauren K. Brunner and Emily Koch of Manhattan, Melissa Stimac of Lawrence, Nolan Brunner of Lost Springs, Bernie and Ann Koch, Cicely Carlson, and Jonnie Karst of Wichita, Gary Schubert of Colorado, and Mike and Linda Carlson and Charles and Arlene Carlson of Burdick. Birthday cake and ice cream were served later in the evening.

Memorial Day dinner guests of Burdette and Maureen Peterson were Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Barnes of Tulsa, Okla., Mr. and Mrs. Bret Beye, Cuyler and Chelsea and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Peterson and Emily of Herington, Eric, Scott, and Josie Peterson of Lincolnville, and Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson. Afternoon visitors were Mr. and Mrs. Ron Schrader and Shae of Wichita.

Glenn and Barbara Knuth of Emporia visited May 25 with Charles and Arlene Carlson.

Dean and Nanette Forsberg, Joe, Savannah, and Ethan hosted a Memorial Day dinner for Connie and Allen Thomas of Council Grove, Sabrina Forsberg of Emporia, Marcus Duncan of Fort Riley, and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Forsberg.

Charles and Arlene Carlson visited with Kent and Jean Brunner Tuesday evening.

Those who helped Jim and Marilyn Peterson celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary at the Hays House in Council Grove Wednesday evening were Alfred and Darlene Sondergard of Ramona, Jamey Dalke and Reagan of Hillsboro, Yavuz Akat of Istanbul, Turkey, Phil and Jamie Peterson and Chris, Roger Peterson, Rolland Peterson, Oliver Peterson, and Ruth Riggin of Burdick, Dusty Caldwell of Tampa, and Earl and Lois Peterson.

A party was held Tuesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Forsberg to celebrate Wade Rickenbrode's seventh birthday. Helping celebrate were Berniece Rickenbrode of Hope, Bill and Carol Rickenbrode of Cocoa, Fla., Mr. and Mrs. Mike Rickenbrode, Wade and Morgan of Council Grove, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Forsberg, Joe, Savannah, and Ethan, and Richard Forsberg. Wade and Morgan spent Friday overnight and Saturday with Earl and Evelyn.

Jill McGrath and Tucker of Manhattan and Jean Brunner visited Charles and Arlene Carlson Friday afternoon. Charles and Arlene visited Monday evening Mike and Linda Carlson Monday evening.

Karin Nelson and Linnea Nelson visited with Dorothy Garanson of rural Dwight on Sunday.

Norman and Edna Peterson of Herington entertained Kenneth and Alice Peterson, Inez Schild, and Neva Peterson to dinner at the Rocking V Restaurant at Herington on Sunday.

Earl and Lois Peterson visited Sunday afternoon with Evelyn Stage and Herb Bredemeier at Marion Manor in Marion. They also visited with Mike Peterson and Kasey of Lyndon at the home of Jim and Marilyn Peterson.

Phillip Hageberg of Topeka spent the past week with Gary and Marilyn Hageberg. Trevor Hageberg also spent three nights with them. Teresa Hageberg of Topeka was a weekend guest. They had a cook-out Saturday evening to celebrate the birthdays of Phillip Hageberg and Mike Hageberg. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. Mike Hageberg, Steven and Trevor, Gene Hageberg, Janine and Tray of Hope, and Teresa Hageberg and Phillip.

Charles and Arlene Carlson were Sunday evening supper guests of Kent and Jean Brunner. Other guests were Amy Brunner of Topeka, Jill McGrath and Tucker, and Nolan Brunner.

Darrell and Candice Deneault of Salina were late afternoon visitors of Neva Peterson.

Earl and Evelyn Forsberg were Sunday evening supper guests of Elmer and Mae Forsberg of Junction City.
