Burdick: Fourth of July celebration is Sunday

Burdick will have its Fourth of July celebration Sunday. There will be a potluck supper at 7 p.m. at the Legion shelter house. If you want to bring your fireworks to add to our display, please do!

Josie and Scott Peterson of Lincolnville were Father's Day dinner guests of Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson.

Earl and Evelyn Forsberg were June 18 visitors of Linnea Barlow.

Tim and Heather Remy and four children of Holland, Mich., were Father's Day weekend guests of Lee and Elinor Remy. They were on their way to Yellowstone National Park for a vacation.

The news will be written early next week because of the July 4 holiday on Monday. News will be sent Saturday afternoon.

Bonnie Bowman, Council Grove, was a Saturday afternoon visitor of Neva Peterson. Pat and C.J. Baker of Lawrence also were afternoon visitors.

Bill and Judy Peterson of Herington and Burdette and Maureen Peterson were Wednesday afternoon visitors of Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson. Eric Peterson was a Wednesday supper guest.

David and Connie Johnson, Kirsten and Kody and Allen Hanson took Jake and Nancy Hanson out for supper Saturday night for their 40th wedding anniversary.

Dr. Larry Peterson of Grandby, Colo., was a guest from Thursday evening until Monday morning of his mother, Neva Peterson.

Naomi Nelson was a Sunday dinner guest of Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson.

Ethan Forsberg was a Monday overnight guest of Earl and Evelyn Forsberg.

Hebron WELC met Wednesday night at the home of Gloria Martin. Jewell Swinney gave the lesson. Those attending were Lois Peterson, Naomi Nelson, Hallie Novak, Alona Hedstrom, Nancy Hanson, Carol Riffel, and Lorraine Gerry.

Forrest and Marie Anderson celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary Tuesday evening by going out for dinner.

Savannah Forsberg was a Thursday guest of Earl and Evelyn Forsberg.

Forrest and Marie Anderson were Wednesday evening dinner guests of Gary and Karen Korte, Ian, Erik, and Erin of Emporia. After dinner, they all attended a production at Karl C. Bruder Auditorium, King Hall at Emporia State University. The play was "The Foreigner" under the direction of Jim Bartruff. Their grandson, Ian was a member of the cast. Marie reported the play was entertaining and humorous. They enjoyed their grandson's performance. The play ran four nights and had a packed house the night they attended.

Marvin Peterson and Josie of Lincolnville were Sunday afternoon guests of Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson.

Elinor Remy spent from Thursday through Monday morning with Chuck and Jan Creger at Branson, Mo.

Sabrina Dunkin celebrated her birthday Friday evening at their home in Herington. Others helping her celebrate were Marcus Dunkin and Harry Schump of Herington, Nancy Hickman, Dean and Nanette Forsberg and Ethan, Joe Forsberg and friend Charlotte, and Earl and Evelyn Forsberg.

Charles and Darlene Gutsch accompanied Ginger Richter and Juanita Helmer of Marion Friday evening to McPherson to First United Methodist Church fellowship hall for a supper and reception for Jason and Lacey Gottstein and their new son, Jerad Carl, other children, Jalyn and Katie, and Lance Sipes, all of Powell, Ohio. Other guests were Rosie Gutsch, DeWayne and Bertie Herrs, Warren and Carol Vogel of McPherson, Jeff and Cari Gottstein of Overland Park, Justin and Julie Moore of Gardner, Sue Gutsch of Lincolnville, and Jenny Heinz, Jadon, Colby, and Mandi of Scott City.

Wade and Morgan Rickenbrode of Council Grove were Saturday dinner guests of Earl and Evelyn Forsberg.

Ruth Ann and Joyce Carlson attended the wedding Saturday evening of Erin Smith of Lincolnville and Matthew Beavers of Herington at Manhattan.
