Burdick: Gutsches attend class reunion at Marion

Charles and Darlene Gutsch were in Marion Saturday participating in Darlene's 55th Marion High School reunion. They had brunch at the home of Dick and Evelyn Bredemeier. Darlene rode in the Old Settlers' Day parade with other classmates from the class of 1950. Charles and Darlene visited in the afternoon with Dorothy Rindt of Wichita, Doris Winkler, and Bruce Winkler at his home at Marion. In the evening they attended a catered dinner at the lake home of Bud (Roger) and Lavonne Hannaford at Marion County Lake.
Hebron Lutheran WELCA met Wednesday at Hebron Lutheran fellowship hall for a monthly meeting. Lois Peterson, Dollie Novak, Gloria Martin, Nancy Hanson, Jewell Swinney, and Lorraine Gerry were present to hear Carol Miller speak on "Act Boldly with Love." Refreshments were served by Naomi Nelson.
Bruce Hedstrom was a Thursday afternoon visitor of Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson.
Charles and Darlene Gutsch attended the 53rd annual Bredemeier reunion Sunday noon at Marion County Lake hall.
A senior citizens meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 14. George Adams will show a 2005 video of the Labor Day parade. Additional information on Medicare Part D will be available from the Salina health fair. The public is invited. Bring a snack. Place will be announced later.
Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson were Saturday afternoon visitors of Donley and Norma Tanner of Wichita.
"Scarecrows On Parade" is the name of a project created by the California Sisters of Ramona. The purpose is to make our town festive and to encourage exchange between towns. Build a scarecrow and display it in your yard between Oct. 1-31. If you plan to display a scarecrow, contact Connie Johnson, 983-4459, so yours can be judged. Judging will be done on Oct. 14.
Cesar and Kelli Salazar and Rigo of Wichita visited Friday afternoon with Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson. They attended the varsity football game Friday evening between Goessel and Centre at Centre.
Earl and Lois Peterson were Wednesday evening visitors of Walter and Kathryn Otte.
Burdick United Methodist Women met Wednesday at the church fellowship hall. Twelve members were present. Devotions were given by Kiki Krause. Karen Carlson presented a lesson on Cuba. Refreshments were served by Susan Carlson and Janet Matz. Plans were finalized for the Sept. 28 turkey supper.
Charles and Darlene Gutsch and Mary Deane Peterson and Josie Peterson of Lincolnville were Wednesday afternoon visitors of Evelyn Forsberg.
Many people from the community attended the Earl Forsberg visitation Friday evening at Council Grove and funeral services Saturday morning at Burdick UM Church.
Lois Peterson accompanied Ruth Riggin Thursday to visit Gary Zinn at Valley Vista Good Samaritan Center at Wamego.

Harold Roever stopped at the Bruce Hedstrom home Sept. 4 to visit his high school classmate, Galyn Peterson of Stockton.
Charles Gutsch accompanied Gayla Deines Thursday afternoon to Junction City to a junior high volleyball game at St. Xavier. Shelby Deines played on the team.
Mary Deane Peterson received phone calls for her birthday from relatives and friends. Among those calling were Marie Thorton of San Diego, Calif., Virgil Burns of St. Augustine, Fla., Kelli Salazar of Wichita, Emily Peterson of Omaha, Neb., Sara Denley of Winfield, Walter Barnes of Houston, Texas, and Marjorie Barnes of Tulsa, Okla.
Visitors at the Wendell Peterson home Sunday afternoon were Shelly Peterson and Josie of Lincolnville.
Darrell and Candice Deneault of Salina picked up Neva Peterson Saturday evening and took her to a wedding reception at Topeka for Mr. and Mrs. Derrick Anderson, son of the late Leland Anderson.
