Burdick High School class meets for 55th reunion years ago

Burdick High School Class of 1947 met for its 55th class reunion Aug. 31. They enjoyed an afternoon of visiting at the Cottage house and dinner at the Hays House, both in Council Grove. Five of the six members of the class were present: Everett Anderson of Topeka, Richard Carlson of Seattle, Wash., Marjorie Hageberg Price of Atlanta, Ga., Bill Martin of Macon, Ill., and Ruby Smith Peterson of Joplin, Mo. Verna Swanson Whitford is deceased. Most of the class also enjoyed the Labor Day activities in Burdick on Sunday and Monday.

Marjorie Barnes is getting a 50-year pin for Eastern Star at the Masonic Temple in Herington at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 15. She would like to have some from the Burdick area to attend. There also will be a social hour.

Senior citizens of Burdick will meet at the Legion Hall Friday for a covered dish luncheon. Meat will be furnished.

Labor Day weekend guests of Forrest and Marie Anderson were Gary and Karen Korte, Ian and Erin, Kelsey Pearson, and Emily Nickel, all of Emporia.

Labor Day visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Forsberg were Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Forsberg of Junction City, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Rickenbrode, Wade and Morgan, Susan Misenheimer, and Charlene McRae, all of Council Grove, Marcus Duncan of Fort Riley, Sabrina Forsberg of Emporia, and Dean Forsberg, Joe and Ethan.

Gary and Linda Nelson, David and Jennifer of Lenexa were Labor Day weekend guests of Eldon and Isla Rose Nelson. Additional Sunday dinner guests were Steve and Donna Hanneman of Peabody.

Teresa Hageberg and Phillip of Topeka spent part of the Labor Day weekend with Gary and Marilyn Hageberg and their other houseguests, Robert and Marjorie Price of Atlanta, Ga., and Ruth Prendable of College Park, Md. Bob, Marjorie, and Ruth left together on Friday after a week's visit with the Hagebergs.

Labor Day noon dinner guests of Forrest and Marie Anderson were Gary and Karen Korte, Ian and Erin, Kelsey Pearson, Emily Nickel, LaVern and Maureen Johnson of Lindsborg, Tony and Mary Korte of Arkansas City (parents of Gary Korte), E.T. Anderson of Emporia, and Lynn Scotto of Kansas city. They all celebrated Forrest's birthday early.

Visitors at the home of Charles and Arlene Carlson since Arlene returned home from the hospital in Wichita Sept. 1, were Richard Carlson, Inez Schild, Lois Peterson, Mike and Linda Carlson, Kent and Jean Brunner of Lost Springs, Jill McGrath and Tucker of Manhattan, Charles and Darlene Gutsch and their granddaughter Whitney Gutsch of Herington, Dee Hageberg of Burdick, Glenn and Wayne Knuth of Emporia, and Forrest and Marie Anderson.

Callers of Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson during the past week were Harvey Hawkinson and Joyce Reeve of Herington, Milan Harkness of Delavan, Richard Carlson, Don Peterson of Camdenton, Mo., Donna Hanson, Oliver Peterson, and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Forsberg.

Labor Day weekend guests of Inez Schild were Dr. Leroy Schild and son and Mr. and Mrs. Courtney Schild of New Lenox, Ill., Dr. and Mrs. Scotty Patton and Dr. and Mrs. Chris Patton and family of Phillipsburg, Drs. Caci and Matt Liebentritt of Omaha, Neb., Cori Power and daughters of Grantsville, and Mr. and Mrs. Paul James of Emporia.

Wednesday evening supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Forsberg were Mr. and Mrs. Danny Crabtree, Adrianne and Jordan of Wagoner, Okla., Mr. and Mrs. Mike Rickenbrode, Wade and Morgan of Council Grove, and Mr. and Mrs. Dean Forsberg, Joe, Savannah, and Ethan.

Mr. and Mrs. Neil Schild of San Francisco, Calif., were Sunday overnight guests of Ruth Riggin on Labor Day weekend.

Mr. and Mrs. Ken Bryant of Wichita were overnight guests of Inez Schild on Aug. 30.

Mr. and Mrs. Earl Forsberg had lunch Tuesday in Emporia with Sabrina Forsberg.

Dr. Larry and Susie Peterson of Granby, Colo., Josh Peterson of Grand Lake, Colo., and Mrs. Mike Dickinson and Hayden of Farmington, N.M., arrived at the home of Neva Peterson on Friday to spend the Labor Day weekend. Jack and Nancy Riggin were Friday evening callers. Darrell and Candice Denault of Salina came Saturday to spend the Labor Day weekend with Neva and her houseguests.

Clyde Waylan of Delavan was a Thursday afternoon visitor of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Forsberg.

Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Knuth of Emporia, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Tindle and Hannah of Hutchinson, Paul Anderson, Don Anderson of Emporia, Ron Anderson and Dayton of Kansas City, and Dr. and Mrs. Leroy (Jr.) Schild and family of Greenville, Wis., were Sunday afternoon visitors of Neva Peterson and her houseguests during Labor Day weekend.

Dr. Leroy (Sr.) Schild visited with Neva Peterson and guests on Labor Day.

Wade Rickenbrode was a Friday and Saturday overnight guest of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Forsberg.

Mr. and Mrs. Don Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Peterson of Herington, Drs. John and Lois Salmeron of Oklahoma City, Okla., Oliver Peterson, and Neva Peterson were Thursday evening supper guests of Inez Schild. The Salmerons spent the night with Inez and returned to their home Friday morning.

LaVern and Maureen Johnson of Lindsborg entertained Forrest and Marie Anderson to an evening buffet meal on Friday at the Hickory Tree in Smolan.

Joyce and Ruth Ann Carlson were Sunday dinner guests of Myrtle Peterson.

Galen and Janis Peterson and Inez Schild called on Neva Peterson Sunday evening.

Sunday evening visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Forsberg were Mr. and Mrs. Mike Rickenbrode, Wade and Morgan and Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Anderson.

Earl and Lois Peterson, Ruth Riggin, and Doris Penner of El Dorado were among many attending the Schroer reunion in Scandia Sunday.

Charles and Arlene Carlson were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Kent Brunner.
