Burdick: Many enjoy supper, evening of fireworks

The potluck supper, evening of visiting, and watching a brilliant fireworks display at the Burdick baseball park was enjoyed by many. Those who played a part in it, those who brought food, and all who attended are appreciated very much.
There will be a bridal shower for Kelly Riggin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Burdick United Methodist Church fellowship hall. Everyone is welcome.
Burdick Senior Citizens will meet at the Legion Hall at 8 a.m. July 19. Ice cream will be served.
Earl and Lois Peterson met Harold and Doris Penner at El Dorado June 29 and had supper together.
Bill Albrecht of Deazie, Maine, arrived June 29 and visited with Forrest and Marie Anderson. He returned home on Monday after attending the funeral of his mother, Amanda Albrecht, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Herington.
Joe, Savannah, and Ethan Forsberg were Tuesday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Forsberg. Wade Rickenbrode of Council Grove stayed with Earl and Evelyn from Tuesday night to Thursday.
Mr. and Mrs. Lamar Schild of Golden, Colo., came Tuesday for a visit with Mrs. Albert Schild, other relatives, and friends. They also attended a family reunion in Shlater, Mo. They returned to their home on Monday.
Visitors of Forrest and Marie Anderson during the past week were Inez Schild, Donna Hanson, Charles and Mona Kniebel, Lois Peterson, Goldie Steely, and LaVern and Maureen Johnson.
Donna Hanneman of Peabody took Eldon and Isla Rose Nelson to Eldon's doctor in Manhattan. Eldon received a good report.
Visitors of Linnea Nelson and Karin Nelson over the Fourth of July were Jon Nelson of Savannah, Ga., and Steve and Kate Richard of Glasgow, Scotland.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Carlson attended the Fourth of July celebration and parade at Ramona.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Carlson and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Carlson were guests Friday evening to a cookout at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Kent Brunner of Lost Springs.
Earl and Lois Peterson were Friday evening guests of Jim and Marilyn Peterson. Matt and Jamey Dalke and Reagan of Hillsboro also were there. They all enjoyed a Fourth of July celebration.
Steve and Donna Hanneman of Peabody and Eldon and Isla Rose Nelson enjoyed a light lunch at the home of the Rev. Marilyn and Jim Cox at Peabody and watched the parade and fireworks display there. The Nelsons were overnight guests of Steve and Donna.
Neva Peterson called on Ellen Smith and Florence Kroening Friday afternoon at Herington. Later in the afternoon, Neva called on Naomi Nelson and Janis Peterson for their birthdays.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Carlson and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Peterson of Herington were guests Saturday evening of Glenn and Barbara Knuth for a cookout at their home in Emporia.
Yvonne Bertino of Tilburg, Canada, was a guest of Charles and Darlene Gutsch on Saturday and Sunday. Others who visited Yvonne on Saturday and enjoyed cookies, punch, and a light buffet were Doris Bowyer, Bruce Winkler, Doris and Gene Winkler, and Juanita Helmer of Marion, Dorothy and Wilbert Rindt of Wichita, Marjorie Nienstedt of Antelope, Charlene Svitak of Pilsen, Ray and Linda Gottstein of McPherson, Perry Gutsch and Whitney of Herington, Irvin and Ausine Strand and Goldie Steely of Burdick, and Jeff and Gayla Deines, Jessica, Shelby, and Justin of Ramona. Yvonne Bertino stayed overnight with the Gutschs.
Elmer and Mae Forsberg of Junction City were Sunday afternoon and supper guests of Earl and Evelyn Forsberg.
Sunday lunch guests of Charles and Darlene Gutsch were Yvonne Bertino, and Wilbert and Dorothy Rindt. Yvonne went back to Wichita with Wilbert and Dorothy to spend the rest of her vacation.
Gary and Karen Korte of Emporia were afternoon visitors of Forrest and Marie Anderson, helping Marie celebrate her birthday.
Eldon and Isla Rose Nelson attended a Carlson reunion on Sunday at the Covenant Church, Lindsborg. They also visited other friends and relatives in Lindsborg.
Walter and Kathryn Otte visited with Earl and Lois Peterson Sunday evening.
Sunday evening guests of Neva Peterson, celebrating Candice's birthday, were Darrell and Candice Deneault of Salina, Norman and Edna Peterson, Harry and LaVerna Miller, and Kenneth and Alice Peterson of Herington, Forrest and Marie Anderson, Galen and Janis Peterson, Goldie Steely, Naomi Nelson, Ruth Riggin, and Inez Schild.
Earl and Ruth Schump of Herington were Sunday evening guests of Earl and Evelyn Forsberg.
Phillip Hageberg of Topeka was a guest last week of Gary and Marilyn Hageberg. Phil's visitor has been Trevor Hageberg of Burdick. Phil also visited with Mr. and Mrs. Mike Hageberg and family while in Burdick. Teresa Hageberg of Topeka came Friday to help Gary and Marilyn Hageberg build a new fence. She and Phil returned to Topeka Sunday evening.
