Burdick: Nelson's birthday celebrated at Herington

The American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Legion hall.
Members of the Burdick County Lines WEC attending the Women's Education Workshop on Monday at the Council Grove courthouse meeting room were Pat Nelson and LaVerna Miller of Herington, Lois Peterson, Marie Anderson, Darlene Gutsch, Nancy Hanson, and Myrtle Peterson.
Wade and Morgan Rickenbrode of Council Grove and Ethan Forsberg were Monday overnight guests of Earl and Evelyn Forsberg. Savannah Forsberg joined them Tuesday for dinner. Wade also spent his week of spring break with his grandparents.
Phillip Hageberg of Topeka stayed with his grandparents, Gary and Marilyn Hageberg, from Wednesday evening through Saturday. Teresa Hageberg came on Saturday to spend the day. She and Phillip were Saturday supper guests.
Earl Peterson took Isla Rose Nelson back to Manhattan Thursday to stay with Eldon.
Charles and Darlene Gutsch attended the installation of officers for Esther Chapter #96, Order of Eastern Star, Monday evening at Herington.
Forrest and Marie Anderson visited Eldon Nelson on Friday at the Manhattan hospital.
Darlene Gutsch accompanied Marie Anderson and Nancy Hanson to Council Grove Monday for a mini-workshop and a potluck dinner. Helen Brunner, a member of Burdick County Liners WEC received her 50-year pin.
Charles and Darlene Gutsch made a business trip to McPherson on Tuesday. In the afternoon, they visited Linda Gottstein, who is recuperating from surgery done March 12 in Kansas City. She is doing well and would like to hear from friends and relatives in the area.
Earl and Lois Peterson made a business trip to Salina Thursday afternoon.
Jessica and Shelby Deines of Ramona spent Wednesday of their spring break with their grandparents, Charles and Darlene Gutsch. They came to help clean house, but spent most of the day waiting for the electricity to come back on.
Candice Deneault of Salina came Saturday morning to visit with and help Neva Peterson. She returned home Saturday afternoon.
Forrest and Marie Anderson attended the celebration of Verle Bowers' 93rd birthday Sunday afternoon at Herington. Later, they visited Oliver Peterson at the Herington hospital.
Darlene and Charles Gutsch were Saturday supper guests of Perry and Amy Gutsch, Anthony and Whitney of Herington. They were celebrating Whitney Grace's fifth birthday. After Whitney opened her gifts, a Barbie birthday cake and ice cream were served. Sharon Tatge of Herington also was a guest.
Sunday dinner guests of Phil and Jamie Peterson, Adrianne and Chris were Harold and Joyce Roever of Herington and Earl and Lois Peterson.
