Burdick News: Burdick Relay for Life well attended

The Relay for Life benefit at Burdick UM fellowship hall on Sunday was well attended. The hall was decorated in a western motif with miniature covered wagons and western hats. There was a table of interesting craft items and good food for sale.
Burdick Council of Clubs met Monday evening at the Legion shelter house with 12 members present. There will be a community choir performing at the community church service Sept. 4. It will be directed by Lynley Remy, who will be assisted by Gloria Martin. Schedule of practices will be announced later.
Mary Deane Peterson had surgery on her foot Friday at Junction City. Josie Peterson, Lincolnville, is staying with Mary Deane and Wendell to help out.
Burdick UMW met Wednesday at Burdick United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall with eight members present. Marilyn Hageberg gave devotions, Jean Ecklund gave a lesson about women in India, and Ruth Riggin served refreshments.
Dean Forsberg visited Tuesday morning with Earl and Evelyn Forsberg.
Sunday visitors of Neva Peterson were Mr. and Mrs. Scot Welch and four children, Clinton, Miss. He is Neva's sister's grandson and she had not seen him in quite a while.
Earl and Evelyn Forsberg took Sabrina Dunkin out for lunch Tuesday at Herington.
Arlene Carlson was guest of honor at a birthday supper Tuesday at the Charles Carlson home. It was hosted by her children, Jean and Kent Brunner and Mike and Linda Carlson. Guests were Charles Carlson, Jack and Nancy Riggin, Ruth Riggin, Clint and Diana Jost, James Jost, Roger Peterson, Rolland Peterson, Jill Brunner and Tucker, Manhattan, Ken and Alice Peterson, Nolan and Melissa Brunner, Herington, and Kent and Jean Brunner.
Wanda and Willard Fischer, Herington, were Friday evening visitors of Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson.
Harry Schump, Herington, and Earl and Evelyn Forsberg visited Jane Miles, Abilene, Wednesday morning.
Ruth Riggin was in Salina Saturday helping her daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Lyal Sader, move their office.
Scott and Josie Peterson of Lincolnville were Saturday lunch guests of Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson.
Pastor Clark Davis of Tampa visited with Charles and Arlene Carlson Wednesday morning and enjoyed coffee and rolls with them.
Wade Rickenbrode, Council Grove, spent from Wednesday afternoon to Friday afternoon with his grandparents, Earl and Evelyn Forsberg.
Burdette and Maureen Peterson and Hunter Schrader, Wichita, were Sunday afternoon visitors of Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson. Shea Schrader, Bud and Maureen Petersons' granddaughter, had the misfortune of falling at a playground and breaking her arm. She is doing well. Her address is 1931 S. Crestline, Wichita KS 67209.
Ken and Alice Peterson, Herington, and Charles and Mona Kniebel, White City, were Sunday evening visitors of Forrest and Marie Anderson.
Marcus and Sabrina Dunkin, Herington, are parents of a baby boy born July 21, at Morris County Hospital, Council Grove. His name is Logan Edward and he weighed 6 pounds, 9 ounces. This is their first child.
On Friday afternoon, Earl and Evelyn Forsberg, Wade Rickenbrode, and Dean and Nanette Forsberg visited Marcus and Sabrina Dunkin and Logan, Herington.
Maurine Johnson, Lindsborg, Forrest Anderson's sister, had neck and back surgery Thursday in Wichita. She is recuperating in the hospital.
Bill and Judy Peterson, Herington, brought supper to Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson Sunday evening.
Saturday afternoon Evelyn Forsberg attended a commercial party at the home of Jane Rickenbrode, Council Grove.
Charles and Arlene Carlson accompanied Ken and Alice Peterson, Herington, to the home of Russell and Lily Hurd, Mulvane, for Sunday dinner. Other guests were their son, Mr. and Mrs. Kent Hurd, Chris and Jennifer, Arizona, and their daughter, Kimberly Nash, Travis and Lacey, Hutchinson.
Phillip Hageberg, Topeka, is spending this week with his grandparents, Gary and Marilyn Hageberg.
The Lutheran WELCA met Wednesday evening at Hebron Lutheran Church basement. Dolly Novak was hostess and Jamie Peterson was lesson leader. Attending were Nancy Hanson, Alona Hedstrom, Jewel Swinney, Hallie Novak, Gloria Martin, Naomi Nelson, Lois Peterson, and Lorraine Gerry.
Katherine Otte was guest of honor at a birthday supper Saturday at the home of Walter and Katherine Otte. Guests were Wayne and Viola Hubbard, Herington, Amanda Otte, Manhattan, Stacy Otte and friend, Council Grove, Elmer Otte, Pat Thrift and daughter Tayler, McPherson, and Earl and Lois Peterson.
