Burdick: Peterson celebrates 79th birthday years ago

A supper was held Wednesday to celebrate the 79th birthday of Wendell Peterson. Attending were Oliver Peterson, Roger Peterson, Rolland Peterson, Bill and Judy Peterson, Bret and Lisa Beye, Cuyler and Chelsea of Herington, Selina Seifert of Lost Springs, Marvin and Shelly Peterson, Scott and Josie of Lincolnville, Burdette and Maureen Peterson, and Mary Dean Peterson.

Bill Gutsch of Washington, Ind., was a Monday morning visitor of Charles and Darlene Gutsch. He has been in the area for several days finalizing plans for his relocation to Council Grove the end of March.

Forrest and Marie Anderson were guests this past Sunday evening of Ken and Alice Peterson at Herington to help Alice celebrate her birthday.

Hats off to the wonderful effort the community of Burdick did for the Linda Peterson benefit. What a generous outpouring of love, labor, money, food, items for auction, etc. were given. An estimated crowd of 300 people enjoyed soup and dessert in the valentine-decorated Burdick United Methodist fellowship hall. The auction was held in the basement with an overflow crowd. Pastor Rick and Khrista Branson conducted the auction. There was enthusiastic bidding for Arlene Carlson's cinnamon rolls, Nancy Hanson's coconut pies, K-State items, as well as many others. It was an effort that should make a community proud.

Charles and Darlene Gutsch attended the Esther Chapter #96 OES meeting Monday night at the Masonic Temple at Herington.

Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson's Wednesday callers were Charles Gutsch, Irvin Strand, Ally Basore, and Wanda and Willard Fischer of Herington.

Forrest Anderson had knee surgery Tuesday. Gary and Karen Korte of Emporia brought Forrest and Marie Anderson home Friday afternoon where he is recuperating.

Jean Brunner was a Wednesday afternoon visitor of Charles and Arlene Carlson.

Lee Remy will have cataract surgery Monday. Keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Charles and Arlene Carlson visited Thursday afternoon with Ken and Alice Peterson at Herington.

Nancy Riggin, Kelli Pearl of Wamego, and Hannah Tindle of Hutchinson were Saturday visitors of Neva Peterson.

Jenny Schrader, Shae and Hunter of Wichita were Saturday noon dinner guests of Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson for a belated birthday visit with Wendell.

Lee and Elinor Remy attended the basketball tournament Thursday night and Saturday afternoon at Hope. Katie Remy is a player on one of the teams.

Ethan Forsberg was a Monday supper guest of Evelyn Forsberg.

Roger Peterson and Rolland Peterson were Saturday dinner guests of Charles and Arlene Carlson.

Logan Dunkin of Herington spent Tuesday and Wednesday with Evelyn Forsberg.

Earl Peterson was a Friday evening visitor of Forrest and Marie Anderson.

Wade Rickenbrode of Council Grove was a Friday through Sunday afternoon guest of Evelyn Forsberg.

Darrell and Candice Deneault of Salina, Neva Peterson, and Larry Peterson attended the Saturday evening benefit for Linda Peterson.

Don Anderson of Emporia was a Saturday afternoon visitor of Forrest and Marie Anderson.

Evelyn Forsberg and Wade Rickenbrode were late afternoon Friday guests of Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson.

Joyce Roever was a Saturday afternoon visitor of Wendell Peterson. Mary Deane Peterson attended the junior high basketball tournament at Hope. Josie Peterson of Lincolnville played on one of the teams. Centre Junior High won the tournament, getting first in the league, and received beautiful trophies.

Mike and Jane Rickenbrode were Sunday dinner guests of Evelyn Forsberg. Wade returned home with them. Harry Schump of Herington was a Sunday afternoon and supper guest of Evelyn.

The Basores hosted a slumber party Saturday and Sunday for their daughters, Beka, Ally, and Kate as a thank you for all their help in moving to their new home. Crafts and games were enjoyed by all. Attending were Carrie Carlson, Carrissa Shields, Shania Beck, Rebecca Casey of Lincolnville, Anna Weber, Taylor Turley of Ramona, and Oaklan Jenkins of Lost Springs.

Mr. and Mrs. Monta Carl of Wilsey were Sunday afternoon visitors of Mary Deane and Wendell Peterson. Josie Peterson of Lincolnville was a Sunday supper guest.

Joyce Roever was a Monday morning visitor of Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson.

Charles Gutsch attended the annual Diamond Creek Watershed meeting Thursday evening at Burdick Legion hall.

Charles and Arlene Carlson were Sunday afternoon guests of Ken and Alice Peterson at Herington to help Alice celebrate her birthday. Others attending were Neva Peterson, Laverna Miller of Herington, and Darrell and Candice Deneault of Salina. Darrell and Candice spent the rest of the afternoon with Neva.

Scott Peterson of Lincolnville took Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson Tuesday morning to Manhattan where Wendell had surgery for cancer on his ear. Ruth Riggin was a Tuesday afternoon visitor.

Forrest and Marie Anderson were Friday afternoon visitors of LaVern and Maurine Johnson at Lindsborg.

Harry Schump of Herington was a Tuesday evening guest of Evelyn Forsberg.

Pat Miller of Herington brought dinner Wednesday to Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson. They all enjoyed lunch together. Josie Peterson was a supper guest before her confirmation class.

Dean Forsberg and Harry Schump of Herington were Wednesday dinner guests of Evelyn Forsberg. Ethan Forsberg was a late afternoon visitor.

Charles and Arlene Carlson visited Saturday afternoon with Kent and Jean Brunner, Jill Brunner and Tucker of Manhattan, and Tanner Brunner.

Dean Forsberg and Evelyn Forsberg were Friday dinner guests of Harry Schump at Herington. Ethan and Savannah Forsberg were Friday evening visitors.

Joyce Carlson, his children and grandchildren hosted a surprise 80th birthday party for Ruth Ann Carlson after Sunday school at Burdick United Methodist Church fellowship hall. Pink balloons decorated the hall. A decorated cake, nuts, mints, crackers and cheese, and lime punch were served. Out of town guests were Dean and Judy Ingalsbe, DeAnna, Jasmine, and Desiree of North Valley Center, Lucas and Julie Carlson of Bel Aire, and Eric and Bethany Carlson of Marion. Other family members present were Ronnie and Susan Carlson, Duane, Karen, and Carrie Carlson, Marcus Carlson, Myrtle Peterson, and Dan and Linda Peterson.

Maureen Peterson spent Thursday evening with Wendell Peterson while Mary Deane Peterson attended Josie Peterson's junior high basketball game.

Bill and Judy Peterson of Herington brought dinner Saturday noon to Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson. Afternoon callers were Roger Peterson, Rolland Peterson, Maureen and Burdette Peterson, and great-grandchildren, Cuyler Cowart of Herington and Rigo Salazar of Wichita.

Kelly Daniels, Emily Peterson of Lincoln, Neb., Bill and Judy Peterson of Herington, and Maureen Peterson were Friday evening guests of Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson.

Charles and Darlene Gutsch attended the basketball game Friday evening at Centre. It was parents' night. Their granddaughter, Jessica Deines was a member of the team.

Approximately 80 members of the community enjoyed the soup dinner held Sunday for Rick and Angela Basore, Becca, Katrina, Ally, and Matthew and Grandfather Francis George. A surprise housewarming shower was held.

Guests Sunday morning of Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson were Burdette Peterson and Rigo Salazar of Wichita. Shelly Peterson and Josie of Lincolnville were dinner guests. Charles Gutsch was an afternoon guest.
