Burdick: Shelby Deines celebrates 14th birthday years ago

Charles and Darlene Gutsch attended a birthday supper Sunday evening for Shelby Deines' 14th birthday, hosted by her parents Jeff and Gayla Deines. Other attending were Jessica Deines, Justin Deines, Dustin Burnett of Lincolnville, Merv and Leona Deines, Terry and Julie Deines, McKenzie, Dylan, and Carly, Kathy Heiser of Tampa, Stephanie Heiser of Denver, Colo., Debbie Coup and Samantha of Hope, Weldon and Rosemary Deines, Kathy Deines, Kristina Bartel and Macy, and Perry Gutsch, Whitney and Anthony of Herington.

Candice Deneault of Salina was a weekend guest from Friday evening through Sunday evening of her mother, Neva Peterson.

Lee and Elinor Remy, Lynley Remy, Tye and Katie were Jan. 7-8 guests of Chuck and Jan Creger, Jacob and Caleb at Ridgedale, Mo. They helped the twins Sunday celebrate their first birthday.

Roger Peterson, Rolland Peterson, and Oliver Peterson were Tuesday afternoon visitors of Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson. Burdette and Maureen Peterson were Wednesday evening visitors.

Evelyn Forsberg hosted a birthday party Monday evening for Joe Forsberg. Those attending were Dean and Nanette Forsberg, Savannah and Ethan, Nancy Hickman, Charlotte Gentet of Woodbine, Harry Schump, and Marcus and Sabrina Dunkin and Logan of Herington.

Charles Gutsch attended a junior high basketball game Thursday night at Herington. Anthony Gutsch played in the game.

Bob and Cindy Mowat of Herington were Tuesday afternoon guests of Irvin and Audine Strand.

Jim Peterson was a Thursday afternoon visitor of Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson. Marvin Peterson of Lincolnville came Wednesday evening and stayed with Wendell while Mary Deane went to Herington to attend Josie Peterson's basketball game.

Jim Druse and Dennis (Brillo) Druse of El Dorado were Tuesday afternoon guests of Charles and Darlene Gutsch.

Jim and Marilyn Peterson, Earl and Lois Peterson, Roger Peterson, Rolland Peterson, and Oliver Peterson went Sunday afternoon to Abilene to help Steve Thorton celebrate his retirement from Fort Riley Fire Department.

Logan Dunkin of Herington spent Wednesday with Evelyn Forsberg. Nanette Forsberg and Savannah were late afternoon visitors and Ethan Forsberg was a supper guest.

A 97th birthday celebration for Bertha (Gutsch) Harrison was held Saturday noon at Emporia. Birthday cake and punch was served to Darrell and Jewel Swinney, Darrell and Wilma Gutsch, Dean and Shirley Gutsch, Jim and Marlene Gutsch, Rodney and Sue Gutsch of Emporia, and Neva Joyce Fischer of Wichita.

Harry Schump of Herington and Dean Forsberg were Thursday noon dinner guests of Evelyn Forsberg. Earl and Ruth Schump of Herington were evening visitors.

Lisa Beye and Cuyler, Chandler Sweet of Herington, and Maureen Peterson were Saturday afternoon visitors of Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson.

Charles and Darlene Gutsch visited Friday afternoon with Juanita Helmer at Marion. Darlene also visited with Roseva McLinden.

Candice Deneault and Neva Peterson went Saturday morning to Council Grove to visit with Paul Anderson and help him celebrate his 86th birthday.

Callers of Charles and Darlene Gutsch Thursday afternoon were Pastor Rick Branson of Marion and Buck and Joyce Sangwin of White City.

Chelsea Cowart of Herington was a Sunday afternoon visitor of Wendell and Mary Deane Peterson. Others visiting were Mr. and Mrs. Willard Olson of Manhattan, Naomi Nelson, Roger Peterson, Rolland Peterson, and Lee Remy. Marvin and Shelly Peterson and Scott of Lincolnville brought them supper that evening. Bret and Lisa Beye and Cuyler came to get Chelsea.

Many from our community attended the open house Sunday afternoon at Burdick United Methodist Church to celebrate Lorene Smith's 90th birthday. Many relatives and friends attended. The occasion was hosted by her family.

Wade Rickenbrode of Council Grove was a Friday overnight and Saturday guest of Evelyn Forsberg.
