Burdick to host Labor Day celebration

"Red, White, and Blue in 2002" is the theme of the Labor Day celebration to be held Aug. 31-Sept. 2 at Burdick.

The schedule of activities begins Saturday with a co-ed softball tournament at 8 a.m.

A community church service will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday on the Legion grounds. A variety program is planned for 7:30 p.m. at the tennis courts with Lee Remy as master of ceremonies (bring lawn chairs). In case of rain, the program will be held at Hebron Lutheran Church west of town.

Registration for the fun run is at 7:30 a.m. Monday and the run begins at 8 a.m. Arts and crafts booths, bake sales, and kids' games start at 9 a.m. Centre FFA pork barbecue lunch is at 11:30 a.m. as well as musical entertainment including the Dulcimers of Abilene and Alex Stuchlik Polka Band. Pedal Power registration is at 1:30 p.m. The parade begins at 2 p.m. Pedal Power and horseshoe contests are at 3.
