Burdick UMC to hold fund raiser for Jesse Smith
A hog roast with all the trimmings will be served beginning 5:30 p.m. Nov. 16 at Burdick United Methodist Church.
Donations will go to defray medical costs incurred by Jesse Smith, formerly of Lincolnville, after a mishap at Tampa.
Smith was in Tampa Sept. 15 when he slipped and fell backward on wet pavement. He suffered a concussion and double fracture of the skull and spent 10 days at Via Christi-St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita.
The 22-year-old man now is at home in his apartment in Salina. According to his mother, Jan Smith, he suffered seizures while in the hospital and will be on medication for two years. He won't be able to drive for a while.
He had been working at Precision and Machine in Salina for one month when the accident occurred. Jeff Harris, formerly of Marion, is his boss. Jan said he hopes to return to work soon.
