Butch Labelle
Butch LaBelle, 39, of McPherson, died Aug. 13, 2006, at Via Christi Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, Wichita.
Born Nov. 3, 1966, at Wichita, he was the son of James Robert LaBelle and Martina "Tina" (Acosta) Mayhill.
He was a sports broadcaster and was known as the voice of McPherson area sports, host of "Riding the Pine" Tabor Bluejay football. Most recently, he was a partner in Starcom Sports and Central Kansas News Magazine and Sports Extra where he was the voice of the Wichita Aviators.
He was preceded in death by his mother; stepsister, Michelle Slater; grandfather, Paul LaBelle; grandmother, Vergie Acosta; and an uncle.
Survivors include a daughter, Crystal LaBelle of Brenham, Texas; five sons, Joseph LaBelle of Manhattan, Neil LaBelle and Sean LaBelle, both of Ashland, and James LaBelle and Johnathon LaBelle, both of Haysville; two sisters, Tina Boley of Wichita and Christee Mainz of Stafford, Va.; three brothers, Michael Mayhill of Council Grove, Corey Mayhill of Wichita, and Kevin LaBelle of Hutchinson; father, James LaBelle of Marion; grandmother, Katherine LaBelle of Marion; grandfather, Cirilo "Joe" Acosta of Wichita; and stepfather, Tom Mayhill of Wichita.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, McPherson, with Father David Lies and Father Paul Oborny officiating.
Graveside services will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Wichita.
