Calvin Riggs

Calvin Lewis Riggs, 18, died Jan. 4, 2004, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

Born Nov. 18, 1985, at Marion, he was the son of Richard Riggs and Kelly Remmers.

A senior at Marion High School, he was involved in the concert choir and was a member of the MHS Singers. He was a talented athlete, participating in track, football, and basketball.

Calvin worked as a teacher's aide at Marion Elementary School and was a wonderful influence for the elementary students.

He was employed at Kingfisher's Inn, Marion and was a member of Florence United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lewis and Mary Riggs of Florence, his grandfather, Jack Hayes of Lincolnville, and his great-grandfather, Earl Remmers of Lincolnville.

Survivors include his father and stepmother, Richard and Raquel Riggs of Florence, his mother and stepfather, Kelly and Mark Bouray of McPherson; two sisters, Starla Riggs of Salina and Merissa Riggs of Manhattan; a half-sister, Erika Riggs of Florence; a half brother, Les Riggs of Florence; grandparents, Lois Hayes of Lincolnville; step-grandparents, Les and Linda Allison of Florence and Kaye and Wilbur Bouray of Courtland; great-grandparents, Alta Mae and Jack Huffington of Wichita; step-great-grandmother, Viola Bemiss of Chapman; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Eastmoor United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Hysom officiating.

Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Florence.

A memorial fund has been established with the Marion High School Athletic Department.
