CCC statue project receives $2,000 grant years ago

WILDTRUST, a donation program of the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, has announced a grant of $2,000 to the CCC Statue Fund.

The statue will be placed at Marion County Park and Lake as a memorial to the 38,000 Kansas members of the Civilian Conservation Corps who labored during the 1930s to preserve natural resources and provide the state with many recreational areas and lakes.

The fund has collected more than $17,000 of the statue's $18,050 cost. Supporters of the project have set a goal of $20,000 to cover freight and other incidentals.

WILDTRUST solicits and coordinates contributions of land, personal property, services, and funds to KDWP for the state of Kansas.
