"No sky is heavy if the heart is light."

It's been a while since I have written the news and I'm not up to speed. I do want you to know that the roof is fixed on the Cedar Point School gym. After the second rain, I went into the building and didn't find a wet spot. We will get to work next on getting a heater for the gym.

I went to a nursing conference in San Diego last week. It was very pretty on the ocean. The water is so very blue. I did actually put my feet in the Pacific Ocean — and it was cold! Even so, there were scuba divers galore. They did have wet suits on. There even was a seal lion in the water with them.

I was very glad to get back to Kansas. We may not have the nicest weather, but there is a beauty about Kansas that I missed. I also appreciate all the elbow room we have here. People did ask where my red shoes were when I told them I was going back to Kansas. I guess Dorothy and Toto have really made an impression.

Helen Wealand was taken to Kingfisher's Inn for lunch on Mother's Day. Present were Dale and Kay Wealand, Deanna and Robert Bruce, and Kenn, Judy, Toben, and Tim Wealand. It was nice to visit. At Kingfishers' Inn we saw Lorene Walker and her daughter Bev and husband Jerry. Also celebrating Mother's Day were Dorothy and Leo Scharenberg, Jerry and Micki Siebert, and Todd Siebert.

Chase County Middle School promotion is Thursday evening. Area students being promoted are JaNay Wyss, Jordan Mann, Abby Widler, Julia Smith, and Tim Wealand. Chase County High School graduation is Sunday afternoon. Area students graduating are Justin Smith and Josh Mitchell.

I saw a note hanging in the post office that there are County Line 4-H'ers interested in doing odd jobs, like cleaning up yards, mowing, etc. to help pay their way to 4-H camp. I you are needing someone, you can contact Gayle Scriven, Denise Lang, or Sharon Smith.

Mason and Betty Fetrow entertained visitors this past weekend. Carol Mason was there on Saturday and Bob Fetrow visited on Sunday. Betty and Mason attended the wedding of the stepdaughter of the their daughter, Judy Muessig, a couple of weeks ago in Kansas City. They had an enjoyable time.

Four area artists, Bennie and Marie Holtsclaw, Marge VanSickle, and Betty Fetrow exhibited their art last week at Butler of Marion art exhibit.

Hope you have a great week!
