A baseball team of 9 to 10-year-old boys from the Centre Ball Association remains undefeated in the league this season, with a record of 11-0.
The Tampa-based team has 15 members and is coached by Tracy Brunner, Russell Kerbs, and Raymond Bina.
Tanner Brunner of Ramona, Aaron Bina of Marion, Rustyn Kerbs of Tampa, and Adam Matz of Lincolnville serve as pitchers.
Kerbs usually tends first base, Casey Kristek of Lincolnville second base, and Tyler Klenda, also of Lincolnville, is on third. Brunner is at shortstop, and Bina is catcher.
Outfielders and remaining members are: Brody Jackson and Benjamin Wirtz, both of Lost Springs; Cole Svoboda of Ramona; Brian Burhoop, Kordell Harding, and Trevor Hageberg, all of Burdick; and Adam Temel, Derek Stuchlik, and Dylan Svitak, all of Marion.
Julie Kerbs is scorekeeper.
At home games, Kim Shannon Shields is home plate umpire and Raschelle Jirak is field umpire.
The team participated in a USSSA championship tournament in Salina last week but did not advance out of pool play.
They played Hillsboro No. 2 Monday at Hillsboro in a double-header of four innings each.
The first contest was a makeup game. The Cougars won 9-0.
The team scored all their runs in the first two innings, four in the first, and five in the second.
Cole Svoboda had a home run in the second and brought home two other runners. Casey Kristek had a triple.
In the second contest, Hillsboro scored on an unearned run, but the Cougars continued their winning ways, defeating their opponent 11-1.
Aaron Bina and Tanner Brunner had triples, and Svoboda and Kristek had doubles.
Adam Matz was the winning pitcher in both games.
