Centre boys finish second at Haven meet

Centre High School boys' track team got off to a good start April 6 with a second place finish at the Haven quadrangular meet.

Centre garnered 90 points, behind Haven with 124 and ahead of Bluestem, 56, and Canton-Galva, 50.

Freshman Seth Jirak placed first in shot put with a 39'7" throw.

Senior Todd Stahlecker took first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:19.78. He was followed closely by freshman Bryant Gutsch at 2:21.38.

Seven other individual second-place finishes were recorded.

Shot put: 1. Seth Jirak, 39-7; 5. Jimmy Cheever, 31-11.5.

High jump: 4. Eric Peterson, 5-6.

Long jump: 2. Barney, 18-10; 5. Travis Burns, 17-1; 6. Kristek, 16-3.5.

Javelin: 3. Tad Remy, 114-11; 5. Klenda, 105-11; 6. Bryant Gutsch, 97-4.

300m intermediate hurdles: 2. Peterson, 45.72; 5. Garrard, 51.73; 6. Mikolajcak, 55.17.

3200m run: 2. Garrard, 10:28.44; 5. Thieen Antoszyk, 12:51.04.

110m high hurdles: 3. Peterson, 18.64.

100m dash: 2. Barney, 11.79; 4. Stahlecker, 11.93; Denham, 12.21.
