Centre defeats Wakefield

It took three games, but the Centre Junior High girls' volleyball team defeated Wakefield Thursday at Wakefield.

The first game was a warm up for the junior Lady Cougars as they narrowly were defeated by a score of 14-16.

Alyssa Luna was leading server with eight points. Other scorers were Kylie Burhoop with three points, Brittany Owens two, and Jessica Deines one.

The second game was won 15-6. Burhoop had six points, followed by Luna with four, Megan Gutsch three, and Brandy Kaiser and Chelsey Tajchman one each.

Strong serving by Gutsch and Burhoop in game three led Centre to a 15-4 win over Wakefield. Gutsch had eight points, followed by Burhoop five and Selena Seifert two.

The B Team didn't fare quite as well. They dropped two games after winning the first one 15-6.

Brandy Kaiser led the way in the first game with 13 points. Other scorers were Amy Hajek and Savannah Forsberg, one point each.

In game two, Brooke Carlson served for three, Kaiser two, and Forsberg and Samantha Alvarez one each. Centre was defeated 7-15.

The third game was closer, with a score of 11-15. Scoring was spread among the players. Alvarez had three points followed by Gloria Belton, Kaiser, and Carlson, two each, and Kelsey Hatfield and Forsberg, one each.

In a 10-minute game, Wakefield C defeated Centre C 11-9. Julie Rziha had six points and Allie Will had five.
