Centre FFA members attend national convention

The 75th National FFA Convention was held Oct. 28-Nov. 1 at Louisville, Ky.

Centre High School FFA members who attended included Aaron Barney, Derek Belton, Gloria Belton, Nathan Brunner, Andrea Carlson, Savannah Forsberg, Laura Klenda, Alfonse Klenda, Kristin Mueller, Kevin Mueller, Jo Terwilliger, and advisers Cary Granzow and Gaea Wimmer.

They participated in convention sessions, workshops, a career show, and competition events.

The Farm Business Management team of Carlson, Belton, and Mueller, representing Kansas, finished fourth out of 43 competing teams. Carlson placed fourth out of 140 contestants and received a $600 scholarship.

CHS graduates Jenna Tajchman and Dustin Suffield also attended the convention. They received the American Degree, which is the highest degree awarded by the FFA. Only two percent of FFA members attain it.

During their time in Louisville, the group visited local tourist attractions including the Louisville Slugger Museum, where they watched the famous bats being made, and Churchill Downs, where they viewed a horse race. They also visited the Kentucky Derby Museum.
