Centre FFA observes National FFA Week

Centre FFA chapter celebrated National FFA Week Feb. 19-25 with a week full of educational and fun activities.

The chapter hosted a game night Feb. 19 for all high school students, which consisted of watching movies, playing XBox, cards, dominoes, and dinner.

The chapter hosted Anita Estes, National FFA central region vice president, who spoke to the entire high school Feb. 21. She spoke about FFA and the opportunities available to members.

Eight FFA members presented "Food for America" Feb. 22 to the second grade classes. They talked about the different food groups and helped second graders create personal pizzas.

During lunch chapter members enjoyed hamburgers in the ag room.

FFA members prepared food Thursday for a staff appreciation breakfast. That afternoon an ice cream social was held and FFA members served ice cream to high school students.

Students drove their farm machinery to school Friday and Ag Olympics was held in the afternoon.

Students competed in several events, including dress the pig contest, pie eating contest, wheelbarrow race, and a five-gallon water relay.

During the week students had the opportunity to put their votes in for the "calf" contest (pictures of the male teachers' calves).

A free community pancake feed was held Saturday in Burdick. Close to 100 people came to show their support for the chapter and enjoy breakfast.
